Her Last Whisper
By: Karen Robards
The last time criminal psychology expert Dr. Charlotte “Charlie” Stone helped capture a serial killer, it was nearly the last thing she ever did. Now she’s determined to stick to research—and leave risk-taking to the law. But when dangerous duty calls, she can’t refuse. And there’s no greater danger than the Cinderella Killer, a charming predator who lures beautiful, single women to their deaths. FBI agent Lena Kaminsky fears her missing sister has fallen prey to the seductive psychopath, and desperately needs Charlie’s unique skills before it’s too late. Joined by Special Agents Tony Bartoli, Buzz Crane—and her ghostly bad-boy lover, Michael Garland—Charlie heads to Vegas to track down Lena’s sister before the Cinderella Killer seals her fate. But it’s Charlie who ends up gambling with her life, when the lethal Lothario decides she’s just his type.
"There was also a sense of profound connection, a depth of feeling, and unspoken acknowledgment: You matter to me"
Well I am speechless.... How do I convey my love for this book and the whole series. It was a thrilling non-stop suspensful journey with quick wit and glorious sexual tension around every turn. There was not one page that left you behind and after every turn there was more and more to love.

"He was a ghost; he did not belong in her world"

"He doesn't deserve what's happening to him,' she told Tam fiercely. "I know him. I vouch for him. He is - was- a good man."
I loved that we got so much more romance!! Which is funny cause she's human and he's a ghost so nothing can actually happen. This obstacle which they can never overcome is what I love the most about this series. They LITERALLY CANNOT BE TOGETHER. Physically, at all! There are a couple times (not going to spoil with details) when things happen and I love that they happen a few and far between. It allows for their relationship to build on mutual respect and friendship even though their sexual chemistry is of the charts!!!
Now let me actually get down to the nitty gritty of this book. The actual pace and story line was like a roller coaster ride. There was absolutely no down time. If one thing wasn't happening another thing was. I couldn't believe how completely hooked I was from the very first page. The mystery to this story, of course like the other books in this series, is that they are trying to catch a serial killer. Only in this one it's a FBI's sister that was taken. Every emotion is heightened. Every action is over and above what is called for. Everything that happens make's this book the best book in the series. Yes! I'm actually saying that a third book in a series is the best one so far. I normally will never say that. There is always something about learning about two characters at the beginning of the journey that is the best but not here. Karen has transported us so far past that. She had me on the edge of my seat wither it was from the serial killer that was running loose, or the constant battles that Michael and Charlie's "relationship" face.
However, I will warn you... I finished this book mad. Not at the story but at the fact that I have to wait so long for the next one... There is a huge cliff hanger (which Karen is very very good at) that will leave you completely stunned. At least I was. I seriously flipped through the pages and held my breath..There was just no way it could end like that. When I realized what Karen did. I released MY last whisper .....
"She wouldn't dare... Would she?"
