Betraying Innocence Review

Betraying Innocence
By: Airicka Phoenix

October 31, 1983, seventeen year old Johnny Baits vanishes without a trace, leaving the slumbering town of Chipawaha Creek, British Columbia reeling with his mysterious disappearance. Twenty-nine years later, The French family moves into his home, never realizing they're not alone in the house.

For seventeen year old Roseanna French moving to a strange new town is a problem she can handle. But even she's not prepared for the evil that has been sitting dormant for years... waiting. When seemingly harmless noises and creeping shadows at night leads to the murder of the people closest to her, Ana has to find a way to stop the evil before it can consume her completely and she can no longer wash the blood from her hands.

Rafael Ramirez is battling his own demons. Unlike Ana's, his has been haunting him for years. But running isn't an option. He has a mother, a brother and a sister looking to him to keep them safe. He doesn’t have time for pretty girls with issues, even if the sight of her makes him hope for things a guy like him doesn’t deserve. But when Ana asks Rafe for help, what can he do except give it? But what happens when the evil comes after his family? Can they stop it before it's too late or will it claim them the way it had claimed Johnny?

First I must say that I really think you should read this book!!! It is a hidden gem that most people would pass over but really. It's Amazing!! Seriously!!! Go get it now!!!

This is the first novel I have read by Airicka and it won't be my last. Betraying Innocence was very well written with really lovable characters. While it is a paranormal teen, it is so much more then that.

Ana is a simple girl to move to this small town (which happens to be in Canada!) hoping to make some friends and just enjoy being a teenager. Her next door neighbor Rafe is the bad boy in town with looks that could turn a nun and a reputation that could break her heart. When things start happening that she can't explain, Ana must uncover the mystery in order to save herself, family and possibly the one guy that might accept her craziness.

Both Ana and Rafe were such amazing characters that I really am so happy that I had to chance to read about them. Ana was so witty and fun, along with one of the bravest and smartest characters I've read about. She was quick on her feet and when thrown into the situations she had to deal with, she overcame everything with kick assness (I know not a real word, but she's just kick ass, so I'm using it). Simply, Rafe was just sex on a stick. He was confident, sexy and just completely drool worthy. There are scenes when he is with his family that completely give you a better picture of how deep and caring he is. He really is the full package.. and oh what a package ... mhmm.. =) (Cheesy lines are his thing, I must as well use them too) Ana's family was so super great and had me laughing and caring for them. They were a real delight, giving her the freedom and truly were really great parents. They had a very yin and yang feel about them, completely complemented each other.

THIS BOOK HAD A VERY STEAMY ROMANCE!!! Some how Airicka gave us one very hot and steamy romance. With everything going on and with Ana kinda going crazy, this romance didn't feel fake at all. I loved how Ana and Rafe first meet. It had me laughing and totally drooling. I also loved their building relationship. It just felt right and normal. As normal as you can get with a ghost running around in your house.

THIS BOOK WAS SO FREAKING CREEPY!!! I seriously read it for a bit in the dark and every creek that my house made I was looking around.. I seriously stayed up until my boyfriend got home to go to bed cause I didn't think I could handle laying there by myself, listening to all the noises. And I don't normally get freaked out. The ghost aspect of the novel was done so well with a crazy story line that had you kind of rooting for the ghost but then also not. He was a true ghost, terrorizing everyone. It was so wicked!! Urrgg loved it!!

THIS BOOK HAD SOME MAJOR SHOCKERS!! There are some things that happen in this book that had me stopping, saying "No this couldn't be!!" I thought she must have been dreaming cause how could that have happened?? I was blown away by how intense the story was written. I was so caught up in the story, literally nail biting, being nervous of what was going to happen on the next page. This all being said, don't think that it's too scary for you. Its not that it's's just good. It consumes you it's so good..

OVERALL I highly recommend you pick this book up. It was very well written with characters that you would love to be friends with. Specially Rafe. Seriously? Could you meet someone so hot!! Mhmmm...
Go buy the book and read it right now!! I swear you won't be disappointed. It's made my list of top books I've read this year so far. I will follow this author from now on, which is why I'm actually delving into her next series right now!!
