Frigid Review

Well if you haven't already heard of Jennifer Armentrout then you must live under a rock. She writes both teen and new adult novels that will always leave you laughing, crying, and craving for more books!! Frigid is no exception. Filled with a little mystery and a lot of heart throbbing, this book should be immediately moved to the top of your TBR list.
“We walk – or shuffled along – about a yard and then I walked straight into a mailbox. I grunted. “Son of a bitch jumped right out in front of me!”
Kyler stopped, shaking his head. “You are a hazard to yourself right now.”
“I’m fine.” I waved him off, edging around the tricky inanimate object as I shot it a dark look. “I’m watching you.”

Never to be the one to catch the eye of the one she loves, Sydney is trying to come to terms that she will never be more then the best friend that Kyler deserves.
Never  to think with his head and only his dick, Kyler will always protect Sydney from men and everything alike, even if it means denying himself the one thing that could last forever.
"We females pine away and keep our thighs closed for the most part when we love someone we can't have, Guys swing their shit around at anything that has a hole, trying to forget the one they want."
I freaking LOVED this book! I bought it a couple weeks prier but due to other obligations I wasn't able to pick it up until a couple days ago. And man how I wished I hadn't been so loyal. I started reading Frigid knowing that it was going to be good, because of who wrote it, but I did not expect just how good it was going to be. I loved Sydney so much! She was so cute and little and yet so feisty and strong. I loved how she tried to deal with all of Kyler's shit but he had a lot of shit going on. She even tried to move on, but its hard when you've been in love with your best friend for so long.Kyler could easily have been an annoying character but darnit I fell right in love with him. He may have been thinking with his dick most of the book but deep down, even without his own knowledge, he loved Syd. He protected her against everything that you could and he is torn apart when his own past comes back and hurts her.
"Funny how you think if you don't finish the sentence in your thoughts, it somehow doesn't make it true. So F****** stupid because the brain might take a lala-land vacay, but it didn't change a damn thing. I was in love with Syd."
The banter back and forth between them was great along with the sexual chemistry was mind blowing. Right from the beginning your waiting.. and waiting...and waiting for the moment that they decide to finally be together. Wowza!! Their first little sexual interlude was frustrating...and hot!! Just when you think you can't handle anymore and you just need them to get it on... BAM!! Their world comes crumbling around them. ;)What I think I loved most about Frigid is that at some point in time, everyone has these kinds of thoughts for their best friend. Okay MAYBE NOT everyone but most people can relate. If your significant other is your best friend then that's good enough to be able to enjoy the beautiful love story between these two main characters. There was real trust and a sense on belonging that you feel right from the beginning. Little things that they do together really cement their relationship and show us they belong to each other.

I recommend this book to just about anyone. Its easy to enjoy, it will make you laugh and fall in love all over again. Add a dash of mystery and real life drama and you got the ingredients for a full blown amazing Jennifer Armentrout novel =)

*****Exciting little thing to add: There is a slope in this book called Shay's revenge.. it may not be related but dammit I'm going to take it... MY NAME IS IN THIS BOOK!!! EEKK!! YAY!

Losing Hope

Losing Hope
By: Colleen Hoover

In the follow-up to Colleen Hoover’s #1 New York Times bestseller Hopeless, the charming and irresistible Dean Holder tells the passionate story that has melted thousands of hearts.

In Hopeless, Sky left no secret unearthed, no feeling unshared, and no memory forgotten, but Holder’s past remained a mystery.

Still haunted by the little girl he let walk away, Holder has spent his entire life searching for her in an attempt to finally rid himself of the crushing guilt he has felt for years. But he could not have anticipated that the moment they reconnect, even greater remorse would overwhelm him…

Sometimes in life, if we wish to move forward, we must first dig deep into our past and make amends. In Losing Hope, bestselling author Colleen Hoover reveals what was going on inside Holder’s head during all those hopeless moments—and whether he can gain the peace he desperately needs

I received an ARC copy through Net Galley for an honest review.

Following the same story from Colleen Hoover's Hopeless, Losing Hope is written from Holder's point of view. If you haven't already read Hopeless, you better get your ass on it!! You may be able to read Losing hope without reading Hopeless before but I don't think you will enjoy Holder as much.

Now onto the actual Review =)
“Should I really tell her how that made me feel? How I thought for sure Les had something to do with it or that it was divine intervention or a freaking miracle? Because I honestly feel like it was too perfect to be chalked up to coincidence.”
Hooked. Desperate. Enthralled. Chilled. These are words that I would describe myself feeling as I read Losing Hope. I thought Hopeless was a mind blowing story written to ring a person dry of feelings but it has nothing on Losing Hope.

I was HOOKED on Holder. I could see the pain that he had to go through, what he dealt with on a daily basis and it just broke my heart.

I was DESPERATE on seeing Holder get his happy ending and not have to read his pain all over again.

I was ENTRALLED with how Colleen made this same story so much different then when she was writing Hopeless. It was a completely different feeling and even though the story was the same and you knew the ending, this book took a life of its own in my head and was so much better then Hopeless. (which is a hard thing to beat!)

I was CHILLED to the bone over the depth of emotion that Holder and Sky felt throughout the book. Just WOW!

Losing Hope delves deeper into the feelings and obstacles that Holder has to go through to find Hope. I never expected to feel so strongly over Holder as I did when I started the book. He has gone through so much that really makes you route for him. Even when he forces himself away from Sky, he does it against so much powerful emotions that it really was hard to believe he stayed away for so long.

Overall I believe it was one of the best second POV stories I have ever read. It felt like reading a new book. Even though you knew how it was going to end, the feelings that Holder goes through to get there is unknown to you. Beautiful story that I would recommend to anyone who has read Hopeless because there is such a deeper story behind Holder that this book shows us.

"Who knows, Mum? But isn't it at least worth a try? I know it was a lifetime ago, but I loved him and I think he loved me"
Liv and Danny have a long past, and after years of being apart, a random message on Facebook leads them down a road that they least expect to travel.

I absolutely adored this book. I thought it was sweet, romantic and Danny is totally swoon worthy. It was a quick pick me up that left me thinking that there is that one person for you and if you try hard enough you will find him.
"She isn't a girl you could not notice; you can see even from a glance that she's really different. She's effortless."
Liv was freaking hot. Yeah that's right. I'm calling the girl lead hot. She has everything going for her (minus the boy aspect) from owning her own bar/restaurant and building it from the ground up. She's also covered in tattoos which is so bad ass and sweet that It makes me want to go finish my piece. Best of all though, she is European. I'm not sure why but I love it when books are set outside of America. It just gives me a little taste of what's out there and just fuels my crave to travel.

Danny.. Oh sweet Danny boy.. Just how sweet and romantic could he get. After getting the nerve to message Liv he is still terrified to get his heart broken but he still jumps head first. Or in this case flies head first. He is so romantic and sweet that its hard to compare him to another book character. He doesn't do anything but care for Liv and treat her with all the respect she deserves. There's a couple times where he stuck in a hard place but I think he makes all the right decisions and I really ended up routing for him.
“I’ve tried very hard since then, not to hold everything up against what we had, but it’s impossible. There has been something missing in my life ever since that day and last week, for the first time in twelve years, something changed. The missing piece came into view and I had to come see if I could put myself back together.”

Just Human is written in both Liv's and Dannys POV. It was a little strange at first, because you read a whole lot into Liv's life but then all of a sudden it switches to Dannys. I was surprised by it, but it didn't hurt. You really get a feel for what they both go through and how much they truly care for one another.

I have to say again just how sweet and adoring these two are. They were each others first love and all they are trying to do is find happiness. Danny does some amazing things that make you swoon and Liv shows us that you can be whoever you want to be and not be judged. Even though their relationship has their romantic side, wholey hell could it get HOTT!!! The sex in this novel was great, it changed and wasn't the same thing every single time, which I think is more true to a new relationship. Lets just leave it that their hook-ups were steamy and sexy and downright magical. (I know that's corny but phew I have to fan myself just thinking about it)

I recommend this book to anyone who loves their sweet romance story. Its a well written book with a change in scenery that I think will leave readers craving book #2. Like I am right now... HOW COULD IT JUST END LIKE THAT!!!  <3<3

Interview, Review and GIVEAWAY!
With Author Nikki Rae

Check out my INTERVIEW with Nikki Rae.
See what her favourite candy is, her inspiration and read a SNEAK PEEK of the next book in the series.

~ What's your favorite junk food?(chocolate, sour candy, chips, popcorn??) any kind and any brand??
  •      Candy, candy, candy. Dipped in candy. Sprinkled in candy
~ If you could have one famous actor save you in a fire who would you choose?
  •  I wouldn't mind a little Alexander Skarsgard. Or...if we're trying to be practical, Emilia Clarke. She is mother of dragons, after all.
~ On a hot summer day what can we find you doing to cool off? or spend the day?
  • Haha. I don't go outside in the summer. I literally leave the house for work and food. I mostly read and write during the day, then do the fun summer activities at night.
~ If you can change your name to anything what would you change it too?
  • I always wanted to change my name to Casper. My friends have called me that since 8th grade. Casper Rae has a nice ring to it.
~ What if the first thing that you notice on another person?
  • Eyes. I always notice someone's eyes first.
~ If you have tattoos what is your favorite one??
  • Though I have plans to get many (A portrait of Edgar Allan Poe, a raven, a bat, quotation marks, a semicolon, you get the idea), the one and only tattoo I have currently is, and will always be my favorite. It's an ampersand (&) on my arm, and my little sister did it for me. The mark has special meaning to both of us already, but having her as the one to mark it permanently on my body is a whole new level.
~ If there was a movie of your books and you could choose an actor/actress to play Sophie & Myles who would you choose?
  • It's so hard! For Myles, it's a toss up between Gaspard Ulliel (Hannibal Rising) and Ian Somerhalder (The Vampire Diaries). They're both older than Myles, but I don't think anyone would mind ; ). For Sophie, the closest I've come to her facial structure is Emily Browning (Sucker Punch).
Alright more serious questions :

~ What gave you the inspiration to write such a dark emotional novel?
  • Life. At the time I started writing Sunshine, I was 14 or15. I watched a lot of my friends go through some of the issues she has had to face, and I myself have struggled with self harm, anxiety, and depression. At first, having a character who went through all these things was a way to help me cope with not being able to help my friends or myself. Now, I hope some of my words can do the same for other people. : )

~ How much is music involved in writing your books? What is your playlist?
  • For The Sunshine Series, HUGE. I need songs because Sophie needs songs. There is no "official" playlist for Sunshine, but the lyrics at the beginning of each chapter should help you figure one out. The same can be said for Sun Poisoned, only I actually sat down and made one, which you can find here:
~ How did you come up with being allergic to the sun. Is it based on anyone?
  • Sophie was always allergic to the sun. It was one of the things that was just there. However, I believe she has this condition, from a writer's standpoint, because she has had to protect herself from so much already. This is just one more thing. But she almost welcomes this "problem"; her body knows how to protect itself before she does.
As far as knowing anyone with this condition, I do. Although I didn't know she had this condition until after she read Sunshine and pointed it out. : )
~ What made you want to become an author? (corny and the most asked question but I am curious)
  • Going back to the dark issues topic, I wanted to be a writer because it helped me through so much. I always wrote when I felt anxious, upset, or if I couldn't talk. You learn a lot about yourself, your problems, and how to deal with them when you write. I could either share what I had learned with people or keep it to myself. I chose to share.
~ Have there been any obstacles that you have faced while writing either of your books?
  • The highly emotional scenes are obviously hard. The chapter with Jack and Sophie in Sunshine took me at least three weeks to get right. The "event" that happens with Stevie took another two weeks out of me. When I write stuff like that, even if it's something I haven't personally experienced, I put myself right there, with the character. It might sound weird, but feel so bad for them at times that I have to take a break. But it's good that I get emotional, I think. If I don't feel it, how can anyone else?
~ Do you know how to play the piano?
  • Nope. I've taken lessons, sure. But I get frustrated too easily. Sophie's piano expertize come solely from my idol, Amanda Palmer. : )
~ Can you give a little idea of what's going to happen in the next one?? (what an ending!! eeekk!)
  • I can tell you a few things:It gets INTENSE.Sophie and Myles go through...a lot, separately and together, to say the least. He tells her things that not even I was expecting.
Some chapters are going to be in Myles' perspective for this reason...
I want to say more, but I think I'll just TEASE YOU instead:
"Sophie’s skin is cold against mine, and she shifts her arms around my waist. My muscles are sore, but her touch soothes me. I can smell dried blood on her chest, mingling with her cherry blossom scented shampoo.
“You left,” she whispers into my neck. He breath is wet and warm.
I will my fingers into her hair. “I know,” I whisper back.
“You left,” she says again, pulling herself even closer to me.
“I’m here.” "

Sun Poisoned
Nikki Rae

Where to even start with Sun Poisoned. Maybe I should just begin with the fact that this one was even BETTER THEN THE FIRST!! Yes I liked Sunshine. It was a good book that was filled with a lot of intense emotions and wasn't something that you normally read. Sun Poisoned surpassed any expectations I had for the second book in the series!!

Sophie has finished high school and is jumping at the opportunity to move up in the world. So she packs up everything and moves to New York to begin her dream of playing music. Along with the whole gang, the story shifts to living in the big apple, playing at Midnight, and moving forward with everyone's relationships.

Her and Myles are slowly learning to trust each other, becoming more comfortable with the "sexual" part of their relationship. Their time together is sweet and at times it's sexy but overall is exactly how I would want their relationship to be. To me it really is the best part of this series. I LOVE how they are there for each other equally. There's no needing to be next to each other cause they can't keep their hands off each other. They are with each other because both needs the other to be able to move on with their lives. There's not enough to say about them that will convey how much I just adore their relationship. I just...hmm.. LOVE THEM!
"My skin gets hot, my hands intertwining in his hair as one of his comes to rest on my ribcage. His mouth leaves mine only to kiss my cheek, my throat, my collar-bone, then back to my neck, shooting hot waves of uneasiness, then contentment through me"
This second book delves into much deeper emotions and situations then the first. Sophie faces her own monsters, literally, and multiple times. I'm really proud of the way that she handles herself while facing them. She is such a strong character that can get through anything, including fighting the demons inside herself. There were a couple times that I had to lay the book down and collect myself because Nikki has a way of digging deep and getting these emotions to bubble up to the top. When the "event" happens, I nearly cried! Gosh my heart is breaking right now just thinking about it. Just be prepared to have your heart wrenched out of your chest.
"The point is," Manny continues. "When you love someone and they break a part of you, your soul has a tenancy to fill up the cracks they leave behind. No matter how many pieces are missing"
Myles is such a breath of fresh air. He is there for Sophie whenever she needs him, even when she doesn't even know it. While he has his own demons to fight, he will fight Sophie's with her. I just love that he will do anything for her, wither its just sitting on the couch watching TV, telling her no when she needs to hear it, and also putting up with her shit and getting her through things that no one else would help her with.

All the secondary characters in this book series are AMAZING! They are so easy to love and so easy to see why they are in Sophie's life. All of them have their own reason for truly looking out for her. When meeting new characters such as Ava and Evan, you see Sophie's ability to adapt. (Some cases are harder then others, which when you read you will understand cause I would have freaked out too!) She can make friends, maybe not trust them completely (after everything shes been through I couldn't imagine that any other way), but she is willing to move on with her life.

I will warn you though that this book is quite dark and it touches on a lot of deep emotions. Even the situations can get a little descriptive at times, but not in a bad way. You get the full picture and you really feel what Sophie feels. Its kind of terrifying in the sense that I would NEVER want to go through what Sophie has to go through and I was in my own terrible car accident. Just the pain and horror of the decisions she has to make...ugh! Just horrific... but wonderful!
'"It's your decision."Myles says, placing it on the edge of the tub. The metal is slightly beaten up now, but it's still capable of getting the job done. Myles steps out of the bathroom, shutting the door behind him and leaving me alone with my monsters.'
Well that's my thoughts. I really hope I haven't scared any one off and really hope I can convince even just a couple people to pick this series up and give it a try. It is just such a nice retreat from all the lovey dovey teen books, but yet its still fills the shoes of being a romance. Myles and Sophie's relationship will always be one of my favorites from now on just because of how they help each other out just because they care.  Truly and and deeply care for one another. A true romance that stems from something dark but grows into something so beautiful. Enjoy!

I was asked to review this book from the author herself so you can only imagine how EXCITED I was to receive this book. I may have jumped around my house and giggled like a little girl. Yes I AM in my twenties but I still feel like a little girl sometimes. Hehe.

This book could not have fallen into my lap at a more better time. Needing to get away from NA and all its glory, it's been a while since I've read a good old classic vampire novel. I will warn you though that this book may not be everyone. It leans on the more darker side of teen, filled with harsh situations and mutilation. Just be warned.

Written from a 18 year old POV that lives a life of just getting by, only to have just total shit to deal with day to day, I think Sophie actually does okay for herself. She's a very dark character who will grow on you and make you want to shelter her just to protect her from all the bad in the world.

When Myles comes into Sophie's life there's no sparks that fly. There's really nothing that happens between them and to tell you the truth I really like that. Most teen books are written where they almost instantly fall in love, or at least are attracted to each other, and that's not in this book. Sophie is so damaged that she doesn't even believe she deserves him as a friend, after everything they go through, trust is the one thing that Sophie does not give up easily. Myles has to fight tooth and nail just to even sit by her on the couch. While you may be thinking that this seems extreme, you got to read the book to understand why Sophie is the way she is. And gosh darnit I LOVE her for it!!
“...somewhere, rational Sophie is thinking that it’s not such a good idea to let my guard down so much, the not so rational one just wants to act normal, have fun, and punch the rational Sophie in the face.”
So this book also delves into a more paranormal world that is  part of the story but is not the whole story. While Myles may be different he doesn't like it, in fact he hates it. He tries to keep that side of him away from Sophie, DUH! She already has enough to deal with!! (You have to read the book to find out why she has enough to deal with!!)
"For a split second I think this is how I'm supposed to feel. Like a normal girl. But I snap myself out of that as fast as I can."
"I am not a normal girl. I don't deserve to feel this way. I know it can only end badly. And Myles is a nice guy. I don't want to screw him up too."
While keeping the story more focused on Sophie, we get to see the struggle and the fight that she has to live with everyday just to keep going. Bringing Myles into the mix really turns Sophie around and she really does have a hard time accepting anything from him. While we all know Myles is the best for her, she herself doesn't know that. I was just so blown away with the magnitude of feeling this book gives you. Its not a stereotypical teen read, and it for sure doesn't smother you in paranormal stuff and make you feel like everything will turn out perfect. Which makes this book perfect.
"I can't stand him talking about himself like he's this horrible person when all he's ever been to me is....well, awesome. He's in no way, shape, or form a monster, and my mind refuses to wrap itself around the idea. I've seen enough monsters in my life to know when one is around, and he doesn't fit into that category."

While I very much enjoyed this book there is just one itsy bitsy thing that bugged me, not greatly cause I can understand why, but the fact that she's 18. I got more of a feeling that she is closer to 16. Just when your reading it, the relationship mostly, feels like a 16 year olds. By no means though does this hinder the book. Having to go through what Sophie goes through I can sort of understand why she is just soooo  much hesitant in doing anything or even feeling anything. So no hate, and I have a feeling this is going to change in the second novel.

Overall this book is so worth picking up!! While its a paranormal romance book, it is so much more than that. Filled with intense feelings and true friendships, Sunshine will leave you craving to read more. Like right now, all I want to do is pick up the second one just to continue on her journey. Go right ahead and grab this book while you can.. Its going to be an amazing series!!

I feel terrible because I know this review is not going to be as amazing as I could have made it. Its been 3 weeks since I read this book, and I have a terrible memory when it comes to little details. That's why I have to write reviews as soon as I'm done the book. Well anyways here's my review.
“The relentless pull of love is a thousand times harder to fight than the tides. If you’re lucky, you’ll make it out before you drown. If you’re even luckier, you’re pulled under just long enough to wash away the sorrow. If you’re really lucky, like me, you resurface just in time to find the one you love floating right beside you.”

Looking back on this book I remember that I really liked it. Adam and Claire's relationship felt so real and had such a sweet way of connecting that it even stands out in my memory. I recall how they had the butterfly's in the stomach beginning with the build up to a very real relationship that had its ups and downs. It didn't feel like a fairy tale, just a story of two people working through their problems to be with each other.
“I guess that’s the way secrets are. They’re only heavy when you’re holding them. As soon as you let go, the significance of keeping those secrets hidden blows away and everything falls into place.”

Adam made me laugh. I think that's what I liked best about the book is that Adam was such a unique character, with his humor and carefree personality, but there was something dark under his exterior. As you slowly get to know him, and all his dirty or corny jokes (hehe), he really came off as a caring person who just wanted what was best. He was freaking great.

Claire is where it felt just a little pushed. As you begin the book you know there was something terrible that happened to her when she was young and it involved the famous singer. You just don't know what and as the story unfolds you get little snip bits of what it could be. I was a little surprised but not freaking out over the reveal.

This book was really enjoyable and I couldn't put it down because I had to find out what the big secret was. Plus I also had to keep reading for all the jokes that Adam had to offer. I got lots stacked away in my head now!! haha!!
“Knock, knock.”
“Who’s there?”
“Olive who?”
“Olive You.”

Oh Adam! Such a corny guy but darnit could he take care of Claire. Beautiful!!

I recommend this book to adults who love a good suspense romance with lots of humor!!

A Beautiful Lie

A Beautiful Lie

T.E Sivec

He saw her first, but his friend made the move.

She settled for the safer choice, but her heart knew the truth.

They love, they crave, they lie.

Garrett McCarthy, Annabelle Parker, and Milo Roberts were as close as friends could get. They shared in each other's joy during graduations, promotions, and engagements. They consoled one another through heartache and loss.

When one of the friend's life is tragically cut short, it's up to the two left behind to pick up the pieces and find out the truth - no matter the cost. As they slowly start to uncover the nature of his deception, and the very powerful people behind it, they begin to question everyone and everything, even themselves.

Everyone has secrets - some do it for love while others do it for power. Those secrets can change perceptions, alter reality and sometimes destroy lives.

What do you do when you find out your whole life has been a lie?

“But if you were given the chance to go back, to tell the truth instead of lie to save someone’s life and their feelings... would you?”

Story follows two people, who just lost a person that was both dear to them. Mixed in with some military and a whole lot of mystery and backstabbing along with sweet but intense loving moments, I was hooked from the beginning. I like my men in the military, says a lot about a man. But ... then it all fell apart.

This book had so much potential!! And I'm sure I'm one of the few who didn't fall in love with this book but I cant. I just cant say that I loved it. The story was great, I like the mystery surrounding Annabelle and Garrett but it just all fell short to me. There was sooo much repeating of stuff that you could literally skip multiple paragraphs and not miss anything. This wasn't a beginning thing, it happened all throughout the book and it got annoying.
“If you were mine, I would never be able to walk away from you. If you were mine, I'd worship every inch of your body with my hands, lips, and tongue. If you were mine, I wouldn’t be able to stand in the same room as you without running my hands over your skin and tasting your lips. If you were mine…”

I don't want people to shy away from this book though because the plot is what kept me reading. I wanted to know what was going to happen to them. I wanted to see who the bad guy was and who was really going to end up happy in the end. This wasn't so much of a disappointment even thought you could see just about everything that was going to happen. There were a couple plot twists that I was like "Whoa Hold UP!" .. and then others were like "Freaking saw that coming a mile away!"
“You hate birthdays yet pee your pants over presents. There is clearly something wrong with you," Garrett joked.”

Over all Id recommend this book to anyone who will sit down and read any book no matter the content. If you got time to spare then go right ahead, it is a good book that I'm sure most everyone will enjoy. Just unfortunately just not me *Sad Face*
