Emancipating Andie Review

Emancipating Andie
Priscilla Glenn

Interesting Note: I thank Judith from ILoveYAFiction for showing me the path to Priscilla Glenn. Because of her I found one of my favorite authors, an author that blows me away with her character and words and leaves me wanting more.every....single...time....

Ever since the one time Andie Weber threw caution to the wind - and paid the price for it - she’s learned that it’s safer and smarter to live life playing by the rules. Now she’s got a great apartment, a steady job, and a wonderful boyfriend in Colin; he’s sweet, stable, and essentially perfect – except maybe for the fact that his best friend is Chase.

Chase McGuire lives his carefree, unstructured life strictly for himself. Dripping sarcasm and oozing wit, he refuses to censor his feelings or opinions for anyone, making no apologies for either and wearing his abrasiveness like a badge of honor. No one has ever gotten under Andie’s skin the way Chase does – and vice versa.

So when Andie and Chase find themselves forced to take a two-day road trip together, they are already dreading an inevitable all-out war. But as the trip progresses, and the undeniable friction that has always defined their relationship slowly begins to wear away their preconceived notions of each other, Andie and Chase discover they both have a lot to learn about life, courage, happiness, and the age-old battle between logic and love

WOW!! Just WOW!!! Priscilla how do you do it? Like seriously how do you write characters that I fall so hard for!!!! URRGGG NOT FAIR!!!

Andie is such a timid character that it was such  a nice turn around from all the potty mouth attitude girls that are in books right now. Don't get me wrong I like a girl that has a strong back bone (Referring to Beth from Dare You Too.. Ya I'm still loving it). This book gave me such warm fuzzy feelings I wanted to go to a light house and have a little moment :)

Chase was just such an easy guy to love. He fit my criteria of being an asshole (I cant help it, I have a weakness for them), but he was sooo much more!!! He was so funny and entertaining that their bantering had me laughing out loud at some parts. I was a silly girl with a grin on my face for most of the book and I'm sure I also wore a shocked expressions at some parts.

"I can't promise you that I'll never be an asshole again. But I can promise you that I don't mean it. And I can't promise you that I won't ever make mistakes, but I can promise you that I'll learn from them and do whatever it takes to make it right with you again"

The one thing about this book is that there was not a whole lot of secondary characters to focus on. It was all about Andie and Chase, their development through their relationship. We got a glimpse into both of their past which was a treat because it just felt real. I love that about Priscillas writing. Everything just feels real and makes you feel what they go through. Andie had to deal with a very horrible situation, even I couldn't imagine but my heart melted for her. To see her happy, truly 100% happy was such a pleasure. Chase has had to deal with disappointment his whole life, never feeling worthy or good enough for the most important people in his life, and then his mother on top of that. Frick, going through all that I was impressed with how strong headed he turned out to be.

"And I can absolutely promise you that I don't think this," he gestured between them, "is wrong. You may very well be the only thing I've ever done right"

I warn those who are going to jump head first into this book, that be prepared for a very real, very heartfelt, very comforting love story. That's what this is. There's no crazy paranormal stuff that happens. There's no crazy twist that you didn't see coming. Its just a story about two people who find their way to each other, in the most simplistic and heart warming tale that will leave you with a silly grin on your face, and the knowledge that everything is suppose to happen for a reason.

Second Interesting Note: I will always think twice now when someone cuts me off while driving. Thanks Priscilla for leaving that little tidbit, more people should think that way!!

Recommending this book to whoever loves a sweet funny love story that will keep you reading and reading far into the night :)
